Create > Consume
Hello friend,
Today as I sat down to write this edition, I realized I was stuck. I felt that I had nothing major important to say or share.
Again.
If you are a regular reader, you might have already noticed it over the past few editions. (Thank you for still hanging around!)
It is not as if I don’t have time to write and think.
So, what is it then?
If I were to be brutally honest with myself and you, I have mainly been lazy. Perhaps I have also been struggling with mental health on and off ever since I returned from home.
But, the truth is beyond the bare minimum work I need to do every day, I have not been really investing a lot of time in anything else. I spent most of my time in mindless scrolling, lying down on the bed before and after some work, or just sleeping.
I hate to admit this but it is true.
When I thought and reflected on it further, I realized I have been in the zone of over-consumption and barely any creation.
And this is the main reason I feel stuck.
During the Write of Passage, I had come across the idea of creating more than you consume. It is the fundamental principle of creating anything, be it online or offline.
When you create more than you consume, you begin to identify gaps in your thinking and understanding. This is how you uncover and refine your unique perspective. In the age of AI, this unique perspective and experience is what would differentiate you from others.
Writing this newsletter has always been a way for me to refine my thoughts and share them with like-minded folks in the hope of creating some impact. It cannot happen if I am engaged in the cycle of mindless scrolling and passive consumption.
In a world where it’s easy to get caught up in that cycle, creating more than we consume can be a powerful way to unlock our creativity and make a positive impact.
Whether it’s writing, painting, cooking, or coding, creating something can help us develop new skills, build connections, and find a sense of purpose.
So, the next time you find yourself mindlessly scrolling through social media, why not challenge yourself to create something instead? Just like I tried doing it with this edition? 😀
It doesn’t have to be perfect, but every act of creation is an opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute to the world in your own unique way.
Thanks for reading!
Until next time
Love
Vishal
