3 videos for times when everything feels overwhelming
Hello friend,
Life is difficult.
This is the first line of one of the most popular self-help books: The Road Less Traveled.
According to the author, once we truly accept this fact, we can transcend it and then this fact no longer matters.
It is of course, easier said than done.
Intellectually, one can understand the principle.
But, we sometimes severely underestimate the subtle impact and implications of this fact on physiology and the nervous system. We might know in the head that this too shall pass but our body can stay stuck in a freeze, flight, or fight state.
I went through a similar episode recently where I was suddenly stuck with overwhelming despair and heaviness.
I felt like crying but couldn’t. I tried to seek comfort in the warm bowl of noodles despite not feeling hungry. But, it only offered a temporary relief. After 20 minutes, I was back in bed hyperventilating and wanting to just sleep but could not do so. The worst feelings were due to the thoughts that came rushing into my head. I felt like a huge failure and it felt like everything was doomed.
This time, I turned to my saved playlist and felt lighter after a few minutes of listening to a couple of tracks.
So, in this edition, I want to share three things that have never failed to help me feel better:
1. A powerful guided meditation
I go towards this 30-minute guided meditation when I am at my lowest and in desperate need of relief.
But, it can be too intense so listen to it only occasionally.
If you want to go through it, make sure you won’t be disturbed for at least an hour. There are also chances that you might end up sleeping after going through this.
2. You are going to be okay
This is when you are going through a tough day and need a quick pick-me-up or a few words of affirmation to. It is just 5 minutes long and can help you ground. A few tears here and there might be expected.
3. An invocation for beginnings
I think this 3-minute video delivers the maximum ROI on the time you spend watching it. This is especially great for times when you want to start something new but are questioning your abilities.
Bonus: My Sailes are Set
Last but not least, I came across this song while watching a new Netflix show called One Piece and immediately fell in love with it. It is an uplifting song from an equally heart-warming series. If you don’t have the time to watch the series, listen to the song and get ready for your journey! 🙂
That’s all from me this week, folks!
Until next time,
Love,
Vishal
