What if it works out?
Hello friend,
Sometimes we try to play too safe when chasing our biggest dreams.
The overwhelming possibility of success can sometimes paralyze us, making it difficult to take necessary action. It can be both physical and mental where your body feels resistance to take action on a sustained basis.
So, we try to make and follow a plan B that feels comfortable and safe. Because it is not risky and uncertain, it feels easy to follow a certain path of Plan B versus the uncertainty of Plan A.
Honestly, I think there is nothing wrong with having a plan B.
It is okay to seek comfort and certainty when the world around us is changing so rapidly. Our physiology also craves feelings of safety. Enhanced levels of cortisol for a prolonged period can turn into a recipe for health disasters.
But, over a long period, plan B can drain the joy and excitement from life while lulling you into a false sense of safety. It doesn’t happen instantaneously.
This is when you feel stuck. Things don’t move anywhere. It is the same day every day with little excitement and energy. You no longer feel excited about things that brought you joy earlier.
This is where you rethink plan A – your big dream- that once energized you.
You look back and wonder if it works out.
What if you can act despite the overwhelm and the fear? What if the uncertainty and the associated risk are the characteristics of the path? What if the physiological resistance you feel in your body is the sign for you to go deeper and do the inner work required to get ready for plan A? What if resistance is your key to healing and becoming whole and integrated at the mind, body, and soul level to follow plan A?
Because plan A is not just about fulfilling a dream but walking a path that feels true to your inner compass. The resistance you feel, both physically and mentally, is part of your journey.
And the journey is not going to be a straight, certain line where you follow a predetermined path. It is going to be a zigzag line of uncertainty where you lean into the wisdom of your body and voice of intuition to figure out your next step.
And, it can all start from the question and the hope: what if plan A works out?
What do you need to do to work according to plan A?
What would you do assuming plan A works out?
How would you live your life every day?
Until next time,
Love,
Vishal
