My 2022 Favorites: 7 quotes, 5 articles, 2 books
Hello friend,
I recently got to know that some people term the week between Christmas and the New Year as a “dead week”.
It is an interesting term, to say the least.
It sounds like a period where one is in limbo after death and before the next birth. It is perhaps when you reflect on the mistakes and lessons from the last birth and plan for the next birth.
The days before the new year could feel the same if you are deep into your annual review and writing intentions and resolutions for the new year.
I have not got a chance to do so this year so far. I do not want to plan anything. I do not want to reflect or overthink what could I have done better. I just want to treat it as another weekend for now.
And I feel surprisingly good about it.
So, in the last newsletter edition of this year, I will only share a few things from this year that made the most impact on me.
1. Best Fiction: Dark Matter
Favorite Quote:
“What a strange thing to consider imagining a world into being with nothing but words, intention, and desire. It’s a troubling paradox—I have total control, but only to the extent I have control over myself. My emotions. My inner storm. The secret engines that drive me.”
2. Best Non-fiction: The Pathless Path
Favorite Quote:
“Nothing good gets away, as long as you create the space to let it emerge.”
3. Best Article-1 Yoga of Eating
Favorite Quote:
“Shame is the glue that holds unhealthy habits in place. And the opposite of shame is gratitude.”
4. Best Article-2 Compass in Your Gut
Favorite Quote:
“Whatever excites you, go do it. Whatever drains you, stop doing it.”
5. Best Article-3 The Untethered Soul- The Roadmap of My Personal Growth Series – 4-part series
This is a 4-part series that has become a go-to resource for me when I feel lost on the pathless path.
Favorite Quote:
“The truth is, everything will be okay as soon as you are okay with everything. And that’s the only time everything will be okay.”
6. Best Article-4 Non-coercive marketing
Being a marketer, this was a refreshing, profound read on what the world of marketing where trust operates as a fundamental unit would look like. Though my favorite quote from this article is not exactly related to this idea.
Favorite Quote:
“The most courageous, life-affirming choice you can make is to break free from mimetic expectations around growth, and choose to define enough for yourself, and actually enjoy it once you get there. That’s the ultimate gangster move.”
7. Best Article-5 Productivity is a phase- 4 stages of personal growth
Favorite Quote:
“Because any problem you see on the outside is just a part of yourself that you haven’t yet learned to love.”
And that’s a wrap from me this week and this year!
I wish you a happy and prosperous New Year’s weekend! I hope you welcome the new year with a smile, hopefully dancing your heart out! 😀
Until next time,
Love,
Vishal
